OUR HISTORY
The club was founded by some rugby loving larrikins from Armadale, Roleystone and Kelmscott in 1974 - hence the name ARKS. The club has gone from strength to strength ever since. We started at Creyk Park as a third grade side before moving to Kuhl Park where we became a premier division club in 1985. Then made our move to John Dunn oval and now to Harrisdale Pavilion in 2017 where we have been ever since.
In our first season we played a series of friendly games to prove to the WA rugby union (WARU) we had the numbers to join the competition. By time the season ended we boasted a full team of players plus three reserves and had won more matches than we lost.
The next season at the first WARU meeting, Arks registered to play in the competition only to find we could only enter if we had the capability of fielding both a third grade and fourth grade.
We only had 24 players but as the games were played at the same venue we were able to play the two games by backing each other up. We did that for two seasons. Since then numbers have been good and we expanded to include juniors teams and a women’s team in 2013.
The club has had a lot of highlights over its 45 year history including a visit from the Welsh rugby team in the 80s.
In 2018, after a 15 year absence, ARKS returned to Premier Grade playing the highest level of senior Rugby in Perth.
